Home Tekna began its journey in September 1997 when a local Pastor’s wife recognised the need for a place of safety in our community. She, and a few ladies from the community came together and started to lay the foundation for the Home. Shortly thereafter Tekna received its registration as a Place of Safety cum Children’s Home from the Department of Social Development, caring for children from birth to twelve years old. The Homes’ capacity is 46 children.

As we have grown, we now find the Home caring for children from all corners of Limpopo and not just our local community. In 2025 we celebrated our twenty-eighth year of service and care for the at risk children of our Province.
